Javier Girotto was born in 1965 in Córdoba, Argentina, where he graduated as a music professor from the Conservatory in Cordoba before moving to Boston. In Boston he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music. He then moved to Italy where he set up his own jazz band Aires Tango
He also directed two other jazz bands Six Sax and Tercer Mundo, and collaborated with several artist including Enrico Rava, Roberto Gatto, Favio Zappetella, G. Petrella, L. Bulgarelli, Rita Marcotulli, Hal Crook, George Garzone, Marcello Pellitteri, Danilo Perez, Bob Moses, Herb Pomeroy, Bill Piece, Tony Lada, Jim Kelly, Bob Mintzer, Steve Turre, Tony Scott, Tony Hart, Roy Hardgroove, Antonello Salis, Bruno Biriaco and Massimo Nunzi.
Today Javier Girotto is one of the most well-known sax players in Italy, being invited to every major festival in the country. On the fifteenth anniversary of his living in Rome “La Casa del Jazz” dedicated a week of retrospection for him. He performed with the famous Italian accordionist Luciano Biondini and has recently recorded two albums on the Enja label
